The Byrdbored 2015 season replay continued with the first round of the playoffs in the East….
Atlanta Hawks (4-0) over Charlotte Hornets
The Atlanta Hawks came in with the best record in the East at 64-18 and showed why in the first round! The Hawks swept Charlotte 4-0 led by a huge momentum game #1 from Paul Millsap. The forward had 29 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal setting the tone for the series. Dennis Schroeder also stepped up big in game #3 with 22 points and 4 assists in just 18 minutes. Atlanta coasted to the second round.
Milwaukee Bucks (4-2) over Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls had the second best record in the East, but someone forgot to tell the Milwaukee Bucks. After the Bulls took game #1, Milwaukee won three straight games to seize control of the series. Chicago forced a game #6 in Milwaukee only to see six Bucks players score in double figures led by Ersan Ilyasova with 18 in the series clincher. The #2 seed was gone, and the #7 seed Bucks were the shock of the first round.
Cleveland Cavaliers (4-1) over Washington Wizards
The Cleveland Cavaliers would see all of their “big 3” play huge in the first round but, with Cleveland leading the series 2-0, it was the performance in game #3 that might have decided the series. LeBron James dropped 45 points, 7 assists and 4 boards on the Wizards and Kevin Love added 22 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists in a 118-108 win. The Cavaliers finished off Washington in five games.
Toronto Raptors (4-1) over Indiana Pacers
Toronto took control of the series in game #3 with seven players in double figures led by DeMar DeRozan’s 18 points and 9 rebounds. However, it was the game #5 performance from Kyle Lowry that finished off the Pacers. Lowry had 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in the deciding fifth game to send the Raptors to the second round.
Second round matchups:
(#4) Toronto Raptors vs. (#1) Atlanta Hawks
