Despite reports that Jimmy Butler would like to sign a one-year offer with the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago isn’t going to let that happen. The Bulls are definitely having to pay Butler after a much lower contract offer last Summer. Butler is a restricted free agent which means Chicago can match any offer that a team offers him. If all reports are accurate, Chicago plans to do just that! The Bulls can offer Butler and 5-year deal worth approximately $90 million. However, Butler also wants a shorter-term deal which could be a problem. In the end, Chicago simply made a huge mistake last Summer because even in the best case scenario, they will have to pay twice as much as they wanted to pay Butler. When you consider the hiring of a new coach, Fred Hoiberg, and the “internal turmoil” that has been reported in Chicago, this could be a long hard Summer and 2015-16 season for Bulls fans. If Butler truly doesn’t want to be there, it could make a bad situation much worse?
