Earlier today (06/30/2015), the Sacramento Kings were reported to have interest in John Calipari for not only the head coach but also controlling the basketball operations. The 56-year old coach of the Kentucky Wildcats is denying any interest in the Kings and is stating he will be returning to Kentucky next season. The reports stated that Kings owner, Vivek Ranadive, was preparing a potential deal that could be worth $10 million a season for Calipari. By the end of the day, even the Kings were denying the rumors, however. Coach Calipari has stated many times that he has “the best basketball coaching position in the world” and is not looking for any other job. Another issue with the reports is that head coach, George Karl, has not be released by the Kings and general manager, Vlade Divac, has stated the rumors are “absolutely not true.” It has already been a very interesting off-season for Sacramento, but time will tell what materializes with the Kings.
