Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs reportedly have agreed on a new deal for five years and $90 million. This deal didn’t come as any surprise, of course. Most people thought that Leonard would get a max deal from the Spurs and Kawhi wants to be there. Leonard is coming off his best season where he won defensive player of the year and averaged 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 48% from the field. Kawhi is only 24 years old and has all kinds of potential to be one of the future superstars of the league. In the next few years, the Spurs are hoping that Leonard develops and can lead the franchise to more championships. San Antonio, of course, is still attempting to add another big-time free agent to join Leonard this Summer. LaMarcus Aldridge is the most coveted free agent for the Spurs to pair with Leonard going forward. Kawhi Leonard can formally sign the deal on July 9th.
